Custom application development: web, Android and desktop
I build custom web, Android and desktop applications for businesses, clinics and sole traders in Valjevo, Mionica and the surrounding area, and across Serbia: from idea and prototype to running in production. Oracle-certified Java programmer.
What I do
- Web applications: user accounts, a database, an API and an admin panel (Java / Spring Boot, React, PostgreSQL).
- Business portals and internal tools: records, reports, document exchange and integration with existing systems.
- Android applications, including work with Bluetooth devices (Arduino Commander and Torch are on Google Play).
- Desktop applications in Java (JavaFX).
- IoT and building digitalization: collecting data from sensors and controllers, remote viewing and alerts (the Kraton platform).
- Connecting an application to video surveillance and AI detection (Frigate), where it makes sense.
Where I work
My main area is the Kolubara District (Valjevo, Mionica, Ub, Lajkovac, Ljig, Osečina), but I work across Serbia. I meet clients in person when needed, wherever they are.
Technologies
I mostly work in Java (Spring Boot, JavaFX, Android), with React on the web side and a PostgreSQL database. Where the project needs it I work in other technologies as well (e.g. Node.js), because the choice depends on the project and on what you already have.
Types of applications
Websites
Fast, clean websites for companies and entrepreneurs — presentation, services, contact.
Web applications
Business applications with accounts, a database and an API — from idea to deployment.
Android apps
Native Android apps in Java, including working with Bluetooth devices and publishing on Google Play.
Desktop apps
Desktop software in Java — the Medicascan platform started as a JavaFX app in 2023, before its transition to the web a year later.
How we work
- A conversation: what it should do, who will use it and what is done by hand or in spreadsheets today.
- A proposal and price up front, in writing, with a plan in stages.
- Development in stages: first a minimal version you can try, then additions based on real use.
- Launch and support: I show how the application is used and stay available for changes and maintenance.
Why a custom application
Off-the-shelf software often makes you adapt your work to the program. A custom application follows the way you work: records, referrals and reports work the way you need them, without paying for features you do not use.
I first build a minimal version you can try, then we extend it based on real use. That keeps cost and deadline under control and lowers the risk.
From practice
Medicascan (medica-scan.com) is a platform for exchanging scans between radiology centres and dental clinics, which I co-founded and lead the development of. It started in 2023 as a JavaFX application and moved to the web a year later. The apps Arduino Commander and Torch are published on Google Play.
Frequently asked questions
How much does an application cost?
The price is agreed per project and depends on the size and complexity of the application. Roughly it starts at about €500 for small applications (for example for IoT devices) and goes up to €10,000 and more, with larger platforms like Medicascan at the top of the range. You get a written offer up front, and the work is done in stages.
How do I pay?
On completion of the work, with no advance payment, under a contract. You can test what is delivered before you use it, and client satisfaction comes first.
How long does development take?
It depends on scope: a small internal application can be ready in a few weeks, while larger platforms are built in stages. We agree the deadline up front, phase by phase.
Do you work for businesses in Valjevo and the surrounding area?
Yes, that is my main area, but I work with clients from all over Serbia. I meet clients in person when needed, wherever they are.
Do you provide maintenance after launch?
Yes, maintenance and changes are agreed separately, with a clearly described scope.
Can I connect an application to sensors or cameras?
Yes. I also do IoT and video surveillance, so data from sensors, controllers and cameras can be included in the same application.
